Can cats eat Chocolate?

No — dangerous

What's the full picture?

Chocolate contains two stimulants — theobromine and caffeine — that act on the heart, central nervous system, and kidneys. Cats lack the liver enzymes to clear these compounds quickly, so even small amounts can cause symptoms. Cats are generally less interested in chocolate than dogs (they can't taste sweetness), but curious cats still do steal chocolate, especially if it's mixed with something appealing like cream, butter, or nuts.

Toxicity is dose-dependent and varies hugely by chocolate type. Dark chocolate, cooking chocolate, and cocoa powder contain the most theobromine. Milk chocolate is less concentrated but still dangerous. White chocolate contains almost no theobromine but is still high in fat and sugar.
